Our people are important to us, and any chance TuneUp has to support one of its own is exciting for the team. Software tester Jonathan Courtney has written and directed a short, 20-minute movie.
A Cork native and film and media student in Germany, Jonathan returned to Ireland to shoot his latest film which will be submitted as his final thesis project.
Along with Jonathan and his team of experienced, young filmmakers, Nathan Gordon is expected to turn in an engaging performance. A lad from Ireland’s Fair City, Nathan is well-known throughout this cultural mecca.
Go behind the scenes of “The Legend of Jonny King” with TuneUp!
Brief synopsis: Jonny King is having a bad day. From the moment he wakes up and finds a girl tied up and unconscious in his kitchen, things get out of hand. This is a story of escalation, a dark comedy, where things spiral out of control quickly. A one-of-a-kind, short film that offers the unexpected around every corner, this will be a must see!
Produced by David Schmidt, the comedy was shot in Cork, Ireland from April 19 through 26. The participants included several filmmakers, some of whom traveled from Germany to the shoot. Watch for it to hit the film festivals around late 2010 and early 2011!
“The Legend of Jonny King” will take a similar approach to Jonathan’s last film, “Of Eyes and Lies”. Both are departures from typical student films, with a combination of black humor and a fresh storytelling perspective. See a sneak peek of “Of Eyes and Lies”, which is also due to appear in many upcoming film festivals.
With his project, Jonathan and his team hope to surpass the expectations typically associated with student films. TuneUp is proud to support Jonathan in this endeavor and is confident this film will stand out among the rest.
